As a result of recent sightings of the rare Jackalope, a limited-time hunting season for the species is now in effect! Though most rumored sightings have been in the west and midwest, Jackalope were spotted at Nockamixon State Park, just outside of Allentown in southeastern Pennsylvania. Multiple calls of sightings were placed to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Therefore, the PA DCNR has opened the adjacent State Game Lands 157 for Jackalope hunting.
While rabbit are a common sight, this is a first for Jackalope in this number. According to the PA DCNR website, common game species are deer, pheasant, rabbit, and turkey. And if you’re still reading this, we want to remind you that this blog was posted on April 1st.
