Scare of the Day: Mountain Lion Screams [VIDEO]

BrysquickhitsWe cull the internet in search of the latest outdoors-related tidbits, YouTube clips, photos, memes, you name it. Stuff you HAVEN’T seen before, hopefully. If it’s amusing, entertaining, educational or astonishing, you’ll find it here. Check back every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and see what’s new.

Picture this.

You’re in the woods all by yourself, on your way to collect an SD card from your trail cam or look for scrapes.

And then the most horrifying, blood-curdling shriek you’ve ever heard stops you dead in your tracks. You stop. Look around. Listen. But you can’t tell where the sound is coming from.

“Must’ve been a banshee,” you think to yourself. And then you remember that banshees aren’t real. So what made that noise?

In this case, it was a female mountain lion in heat. No wonder you never see two mountain lions at the same time. Who’d want to put up with that racket?

Thanks go to Westin Yancey of the WRY Outdoor Media channel on YouTube for the footage.
