THIS Is How You Handle a Grizzly Encounter [VIDEO]

BrysquickhitsWe cull the internet in search of the latest outdoors-related tidbits, YouTube clips, photos, memes, you name it. Stuff you HAVEN’T seen before, hopefully. If it’s amusing, entertaining, educational or astonishing, you’ll find it here. Check back every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and see what’s new.

I can’t tell you how many videos I’ve posted where grizzly encounters were handled poorly. Probably dozens.

Thankfully, today’s video is a great example of what you SHOULD do when you happen upon a bear.

Let’s take a look at how it plays out. We’ll dissect it below.

This group of Aussies was hiking the Ha Ling trail in Alberta, Canada, when they noticed a brown bear headed their way.

Instead of panicking, they kept cool and alerted the bear to their presence. The guy filming spoke in a calm, appeasing tone, and, most importantly, gave the bear a wide berth.

Perhaps just as critically, he had bear spray on-hand and armed for use.

We’re not sure if the bear was actually approaching the group out of curiosity or to test dominance——or if it just wanted to get from point A to point B…but either way, these guys do just about everything right to avoid a confrontation.
