It was a warmer than normal February in Minnesota this year, but that didn’t stop these Upper Red Lake ice fisherman. The road conditions look to be a bit slippery in the video, but the ice was more than thick enough to keep them safe. Earlier that day, the group had to drill through 30-inches of ice before getting to the walleyes.
The Minnesota DNR typically recommends 12″ – 15″ of ice before driving a small to medium sized truck on the ice. If you’re starting to think Minnesotans might be crazy — we don’t blame you. We just really really love ice fishing.
