Walk Like a Man: Bear Seen Strolling Around New Jersey Neighborhood on Hind Legs [VIDEO]

What was first thought to be a hoax by some is actually a very real – and injured – bear, confirms the Woodland Wildlife Refuge on their Facebook page.

If you haven’t seen the video of the hind leg-walking bear yet, here’s the footage uploaded to Youtube by Ian Bohman on August 4th.

The bear is thought to have sustained injuries to its front paws and legs. How exactly it happened is undetermined, though some guesses are being made.

From examiner.com:

…from the looks of things, he probably was hit by a car, said Kelcey Burguess, who is a black bear biologist with the New Jersey Fish and Wildlife. The bear is being monitored by this department and it is expected to make a full recovery.

It is already showing signs of healing, as it is becoming more mobile, said Burguess, who reports that this bear is “going to be just fine.” The department will continue to monitor the progress of the bear and for now the decision is to let the bear heal on its own.

If you live in the area, Woodland Wildlife Refuge urges you to report any sightings to 908-730-8300 or wildlife_rehab@yahoo.com.
