Newsworthy items from around the world, for the Sportsman like you!
I have to say, this story seems fishy to me.
OK now that I have that out of my system, I have to admit this seemed a little unbelievable. But haven’t we all been there at some point as a kid? Creating a makeshift fishing pole or crabbing trap by whatever we could find? That’s exactly what happened to Tyler Albersman to catch a 27″ northern.

While heading out on a family fishing trip, Tyler forgot his rod. So his Grandpa Dave made him a “pole” from “a tree branch, tying on a 4-foot line, a jig, and a pencil bobber.” And right-off, it snagged a couple of sunfish. But that was nothing compared to what happened when the bobber dipped below the surface of Lake Vermilion in northern Minnesota.
