Bob Cadwell of Black Mountain, North Carolina, got front row seats to a heavyweight bout of epic proportions when a big boar attacked a mother bear while her cubs hid in a tree nearby.
As you can see in the video, the male has at least 100 pounds—probably closer to 150—on the mama, but it’s not about the size of the dog in the fight. It’s about the size of the fight in the dog.
And this mama has everything in the world to fight for. Let’s see how it all shakes out.
Though hesistant at first, the female engages the boar head on. The mama bear stands her ground, and once she makes it clear that this won’t be an easy fight, the boar backs down.
Male bears often try to kill cubs, both to put the mother back into heat and to eliminate future competition. Thankfully for these cubs, mama was not intimidated.
