A Record Week For Gators

May 17, 2006 — Wildlife authorities in Florida have confirmed that three women were killed by alligators in separate incidents in different parts of the state last week — marking a historic, albeit tragic benchmark. Prior to the three attacks, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission attributed only 17 human deaths to alligators in nearly 60 years.
