I caught it with a fishing pole using natural eggs.
I was fishing out of a Willie drift boat back bouncing roe on the Smith River in Oregon.
This guy was in a herd of 25 and was the largest bull taken thus far from the ranch.
Riley, age 12, caught and landed his first 5-pound steelhead. One hour later, he let a 13-pound, 34-incher go back. What a day!
I was hiking a long ways and finally found the herd about 4 p.m. I saw this 7 point and got it just before dark. I have never shot an elk in my life — so I got the big boy the first time!
How about this for a great day on the Pacific!
50-yard shot in the dead of night — right in front of the chicken coop.
