Guy Surprises Bear in Dumpster, is Lucky to Not Get Mauled [VIDEO]

We cull the internet in search of the latest outdoors-related tidbits, YouTube clips, photos, memes, you name it. Stuff you HAVEN’T seen before, hopefully. If it’s amusing, entertaining, educational or astonishing, you’ll find it here. Check back every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and see what’s new.

Bears and garbage go together like peanut butter and jelly, so it’s not uncommon to find a black bear enjoying the fruits of a ripe dumpster.

And if any of you should happen to find yourself in such a scenario, I assume you would have the good sense to A.) put the camera down, B.) back away slowly, and C.) alert the bear to your presence from a safe distance.

Unfortunately, the guy in today’s video fails on all three counts. Check it out:

Black bears are pretty cowardly…unless you happen to startle them.

When surprised, even the most docile of bears is capable of turning you into a chew toy in a split second. The guy in the video is lucky that the bear chose to flee instead of attack.

The video is an excellent lesson in just how fast bears can move. And if they move at you…well, I hope you have a Ruger Redhawk at your side.

Thankfully, neither man nor bear are any worse for the wear. But it could’ve gone very, very badly.
