This fishing lodge in northern Saskatchewan got a lot of visits from local bears, but a lone black wolf proved to be a more urgent threat when it took an interest in the lodge dog.
Two fishing guides saw the wolf through the kitchen window. One of them went outside, and the other went for the shotgun. The wolf left, but came back just a few minutes later. The dog——Trigger——confronted the wolf.
About halfway through the video, you get a good look at how much bigger the wolf is when it gives chase.
“The wolf waited for Trigger to turn away and that’s when he grabbed the dog in the back end and threw her up in the air right in front of me,” the man filming told news.
Thankfully, the other guide was ready with the shotgun. He fired a shot into the air, which broke up the fight. The two guides gave chase and fired another shot to scare him off.
The wolf came back two more times that day, but Trigger was kept inside. She had a few good wounds, but she’s fine now.
