Steve Carroll and Bryce Thompson were kayak fishing on the Snake River in Idaho when Bryce hooked the fish of a lifetime.
It was a gigantic sturgeon, measuing 8 feet long, 3+ feet around, and probably weighing in the neighborhood of 300 pounds.
After a struggle, Steve got his camera out and started shooting just in time to watch the fish breach.
“All of a sudden that fish, just right next to the boat just comes ‘Free Willy-style’ right off the bow,” Steve told KTVB news. “And thank God that thing wiggled a little bit to the left.”
Otherwise he would’ve flipped that canoe like a pancake with Bryce still in it.
I love the excitement in Steve’s voice as he films. This is what it’s all about.
