Moose Goes Cliff-Diving [VIDEO]

We cull the internet in search of the latest outdoors-related tidbits, YouTube clips, photos, memes, you name it. Stuff you HAVEN’T seen before, hopefully. If it’s amusing, entertaining, educational or astonishing, you’ll find it here. Check back every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and see what’s new.

A group of sightseers in Nippers Harbour, Newfoundland, got front-row seats to a very bizarre decision by a bull moose.

Alyssa—who posted the video on YouTube—saw the moose approach the edge and grabbed her camera.

Sure enough, after some hesitation, the moose makes up his mind and dives into the water below.

The bull looks about as graceful as you’d expect a bull moose to look, and splashes down dangerously close to some rocks.

After a dramatic moment of not knowing the animal’s fate, the moose surfaces for air, causing a sigh of relief among the sighseers.

Who knows what drove the bull to jump? Was he poking around on the cliff and got too close to the edge to get back up? Was he being swarmed by mosqitoes? Was he simply a thrill-seeker?

At any rate, we’re glad he’s ok.
