Story: It was the last hunt of the day before I had to pack up and head five hours back home to see my wife and my grandkids. Santa had to get back to work. I was in my tree about 1 p.m. and saw several does, but that was not what I was looking for. At about 5:15, I see this deer heading toward me from the creek. By the time he got within range, it was starting to get dark so I decided to take him. BOOM! I thanked God, took a breath, and waited 15 minutes. I got down, paced the distance from the tree to the deer and it was a whopping 176 yards! I headed home to share this beautiful buck with my family and my dear grandson. One day he will go with grandpa hunting so I can pass my knowledge down to him.
