We (my two youngest sons and I) were in Anchorage, Alaska, for a marathon for my second youngest. We planned to go salmon fishing and had arranged for a guide. I broke my foot just before we were to leave! When we were preparing to meet the guide we stopped and got a role of plastic wrap and wrapped my foot and leg to make the cast waterproof and then went fishing. Just a reflection of my boys determination when the youngest was about 8 we had been fishing for crappies in Minnesota. For the third time we caught nothing; I was feeling pretty bad for my boys when the youngest said, “you know dad, fishing is great even if you don’t catch anything.” That set us up for a life time of fishing where even a broken foot does not get in the way.
