Jay Scott was hunting for Gould’s turkey in Mexico with a couple of buddies when a shot on a big tom went very wrong.
As much as I’d love to believe that the decoy was so convincing that the shooter forgot which target was real and which target was fake, but in reality, it looks like the first shot takes a slight deflection off part of the blind…and ends up striking the full-strut decoy square.
Predictably, the men can barely control their laughter. Check it out:
Sometimes things don’t go as planned….🇲🇽❤️ Gould’s Turkey Hunting in Mexico 👍🏼

Thankfully for Jay and his buddies, the tom is so wrapped up in the hen that he doesn’t notice the loud “THUNK”—or the fact that the jake does almost a full spin.
Jay notches another arrow and nails the tom.
It’s the rare example where a bad mistake in the field DOESN’T cost a hunter a chance at a trophy animal.
